Children entering Junior High are in
the age of puberty where so many changes are taking place in their lives.
Because of these physical, mental and social changes, some young adolescents
have difficulty understanding and handling their lack of physical coordination,
their new inner drives, feelings and emotions and consequently become
extremely frustrated with themselves. It becomes very evident that these
young people, trying to bridge the gap between childhood and adulthood need a
great deal of help, guidance, and patience to tide them over these years. It
is important to realize that far more is at stake in their total development
than meets the casual eye.
We therefore believe that though the cognitive is
perhaps the prime concern of the teacher, the affective cannot be
under-estimated and a caring attitude must be reflected throughout the school
year...
